Hours you need each year

If you are on one of CySEC's public registers of certified persons, you must complete CPD hours every calendar year, by 31 December. People in their first year on the register are exempt.

Renewal

Renewal is online in January and February. You confirm, by ticking a box, that you completed the hours; you do not upload anything at that point. Miss the renewal and you are removed from the register automatically. At the time of writing (October 2026) renewal costs €80, and re-registering within 12 months costs €280.

What counts

  • E-learning counts, provided the provider can show you took part to the end — for example through a final assessment. Every Pnyx Hill Academy course ends with a final exam; its pass mark is on the course page.
  • Basic and Advanced hours must cover capital-market law. AML hours must cover AML/CFT law.
  • Ethics and governance count for at most half of your yearly hours. So does financial innovation such as distributed ledger technology; CySEC has not said whether MiCA courses fall under that cap, so we treat them as if they do.
  • General finance topics and conference attendance do not count.

What to keep for five years

For every course, keep the content and agenda, the trainer's CV and your certificate. CySEC can ask to see them during an inspection. Each of our course pages has a CPD evidence pack with the outline, laws covered, duration and trainer profile; your certificate carries an ID anyone can check on our verification page.
